Things to do in Moraira: 10 ideas for your holiday

By Villa Serenita · Updated November 2026

Moraira is a quiet fishing village, perfect for unwinding, but there's much more to it than the beach. These are our favourite things to do in town and a few minutes' drive away.

1. Walk up to the Cap d'Or watchtower

A 16th-century watchtower built on the orders of Philip II to warn of pirate attacks. The path starts near El Portet and reaches the tower in a walk of about an hour there and back. The views of the Peñón de Ifach and the coast are spectacular, especially at sunset.

2. See Moraira Castle

An 18th-century horseshoe-shaped bastion built by the sea to defend the coast. It stands next to L'Ampolla beach, so you can combine it with a swim and a stroll.

3. Stroll the marina and the seafront

The marina and the seafront promenade are the heart of the town. Early evening is the best time for a drink and to choose a restaurant. On our website we recommend some of our favourites.

4. Kayaking, snorkelling and diving

You can hire kayaks and pedal boats at El Portet, and there are kayak tours along the cliffs. For snorkelling, the best spots are L'Andragó cove and Cap Blanc. Moraira also has dive centres with try-dives for beginners.

5. Discover the coves

Beyond the beaches, the coast hides rocky coves with crystal-clear water, such as Portitxol or Cala Llebeig, which you can only reach on foot or by boat. We cover them all in our beach guide.

6. The Marjal del Senillar

Next to L'Ampolla there's a small protected wetland with lagoons and dunes, home to the fartet, an endangered native fish. A short and interesting walk to do with children.

7. The Friday market

On Friday mornings Moraira holds its weekly market, with local fruit and vegetables, clothes and crafts. A nice way to start the weekend.

8. Teulada, 6 kilometres inland

The municipality Moraira belongs to has a walled medieval old town, listed as a Site of Cultural Interest. It's worth a relaxed visit, and the area is known for its Moscatel wine.

9. Calp, Xàbia and Altea

Calp, with the Peñón de Ifach, and Xàbia are about 20 minutes away by car. Altea, with its white old town on the hill, is just over half an hour away. Any of them makes a perfect half-day trip.

10. With children: parks and pool days

Benidorm, just over half an hour away, has theme parks and water parks for a different kind of day. And if what you want is to rest, nothing beats an afternoon in the house's private pool.
